Indian PM to meet regional leaders in Fiji

7:47 pm on 10 November 2014

The Indian High Commission in Suva says the Indian Prime Minister is to meet leaders of Pacific Island countries during his visit to Fiji next week.

Narendra Modi is due in Fiji on November the 19th, the first visit by an Indian prime minister since Indira Gandhi visited in 1981.

A spokesman says the Prime Minister wants to interact with leaders from other Pacific Island countries.

He says meeting details and attendance are still being worked out.

Mr Modi's visit to Fiji follows his attendance at the G20 summit of the world's major economies in Australia.
