Mystery remains around allegations of an assault involving a police officer and a protestor when the New Zealand Prime Minister visited Niue this week.
The police say the man remained under arrest for the duration of John Key's visit for assaulting an officer, but the protestor says he was the one that was assaulted.

"Vilikai Vilikai was placing placards along the road Mr Key was to travel from the airport, protesting over a land rent issue and lack of government action over recycling. The chief of police, Tony Kose, says the man was approached by two police officers and arrested for pushing one of them. Mr Kose says he was not arrested for his protest, but wouldn't say why the police approached Mr Vilikai in the first place. But Mr Vilikai says he was the one assaulted by the police, arrested without charge, and is considering suing."
