PNG police boss hit with rape charges

A police police boss in Papua New Guinea has been charged with raping a minor

The Wewak Police Station Commander, Sakawar Kasieng, has also been charged with unlawful wounding, discharging a firearm, arson and threatening with a firearm.

The head investigator and Deputy Director Crimes at the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Unit, Donald Yamasombi confirmed the charges and says Commander Kasieng is in police custody awaiting his lawyers to file a court bail at the Wewak District Court for his release.

PNG Village reports two other probationary constables received similar charges of rape, unlawful wounding and arson and are in police custody as well, while more investigations continue.
