Police have been made aware of a helicopter crash at Whangamatā Airfield.

Police have said initial indications are that multiple people are injured, some seriously.
Police say the car crashed into a van, leaving the driver critically injured and needing to be airlifted to hospital.
State Highway 3 is currently blocked by the crash and diversions are in place.
Police said there are serious injuries in the two-car crash that was reported at 7.20pm.
