American Samoa government sets graduate pay rates

The American Samoa governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has established remuneration policy for college graduates entering the government workforce.

In a memo issued this week, Governor Lolo said all employees who are college graduates entering the government workforce will be paid at entry level 23,000 or 27,000 US dollars a year for a bachelor or a masters degree respectively.

He says the decision to implement the new compensation policy is made while being mindful of the financial implications.

Governor Lolo says he has also considered the perceived inequity for all college and university graduates who have been in the workforce for some time but whose salaries have been below the new compensation level.
