The warden of the American Samoa jail has been re-assigned after several escapes this year.
The police commissioner William Haleck transferred the warden Lumana'i Maifea to head the police Records Office but didn't explain the reason for the decision.
However it comes after several prisoners had broken out of the jail and a police raid of the facility had turned up items such as cell phones, alcohol and large amounts of cash.
In the latest escape an inmate serving a life sentence for killing another inmate got out of the jail.
