Fiji's Health Ministry has received equipment worth 280 thousand US dollars from the United Nations Population Fund to improve health services for mothers during and after pregnancy.

The Minister for Health Doctor Neil Sharma said the new equipment will bring relief to pregnant women and assist Government to achieve the health related Millennium Development Goals.

The head of Obstetrics at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Dr James Fong, says the grant follows an assessment conducted by UNFPA four years ago which looks at technology gaps in maternity care.
