A Chinese police team conducted "public lectures" and "showcased Chinese martial arts" during a visit to remote communities in Malaita Province, according to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

The visit to sixteen remote communities in North Malaita was part of a community policing awareness programme led by the RSIPF and the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) in Honiara.

The RSIPF said the team conducted five community policing and cultural exchange activities, and donated uniforms, daily necessities, and cultural and sports materials valued at more than NZ$12,000 (SB$60,000).

"The team also shared China's 'Fengqiao Experience' in community policing, delivered crime prevention lectures, and showcased traditional Chinese martial arts," the RSIPF said in a news release on Wednesday.

"They interacted with nearly 3000 community residents, teachers and students, and received a warm welcome and high praise from the local people."

"Locals said the RSIPF and CPLT have brought not only material support but also experience sharing and spiritual encouragement, making the northern community of Malaita more united and more proactive," the Solomon Islands police said.

According to the RSIPF, the visit to Malaita consolidates the friendship and deepens police cooperation between China and Solomon Islands.

It added police remain committed to supporting the development of safe communities and ensuring a secure and stable environment in preparation for the Pacific Islands Forum starting next week.
