The internet provider in Niue has been awarded almost 8000 US dollarsfor its innovative WiFi internet network.
The award won by Internet Niue is for one of four award categories funded by a joint initiative by the Information Society Innovation Fund.
The category won by Internet Niue recognises its success in growing the island's internet capacity over the past three years and encouraging qualified locals to provide a reliable internet service.
The Managing Director of RockET Systems, the company that manages the internet service, says the development award will help it to improve WiFi access to its customers.
The award also recognises the ongoing support of the IUSN Foundation that funds Internet Niue from sales of dot-NU domain names in Scandinavia.
