Figures released in French Polynesia show that tourist numbers in September had a 1.8 percent increase over the same month last year, totalling just over 15,000.
However, figures for the first nine months of the year are down by 6.2 percent over the same period last year.
They also show a rebound in US visitors in September of more than 15 percent while European and Asian travellers were fewer.
The figures for travellers from Australia and New Zealand were also up.
