Vanuatu opposition deposits motion against Kilman

Vanuatu's opposition has deposited a motion of no-confidence against the new Prime Minister Sato Kilman.

The opposition group, under former Prime Minister Edward Natapei who was ousted earlier this month, has also deposited a motion of notice calling for an extra-ordinary session of parliament next Tuesday.

The extra session would allow MPs to debate the motion to oust Mr Kilman who replaced Mr Natapei as Prime Minister after a parliamentary vote which the media was controversially disallowed access to for the first time in Vanuatu's history.

Mr Natapei has called it a circumvention of the democratic process and the main reason for putting a motion of no confidence against Mr Kilman.

The opposition says that 27 out of the 52 members of the parliament have signed their intent to support the two motions.
