The Senate in the Northern Marianas has rejected a controversial House bill that sought to legalise marijuana for medical and recreational use.
The bill would have allowed people of at least 21 years of age to possess, cultivate, or transport marijuana for personal use.
But one of those who introduced the bill, Senator Luis Crisostimo, says he plans to introduce separate medical marijuana legislation.
