New Zealand will play Papua New Guinea in the final of the Oceania Women's Nation's Cup football tournament.

New Zealand beat the Solomon Islands 8-nil in Wednesday's first semi-final before a 62nd minute goal from Zeen Limbai separated Papua New Guinea from the Cook Islands.

Papua New Guinea coach Francis Moyap says his side didn't play very well and they were lucky to steal the win.

"The Cooks gave us a good run - unfortunately we didn't have any golden scoring chances. I think we were lucky to come away with the the score. We were trying to do something that we were looking at putting up against New Zealand, unfortunately it didn't work out the way we planned and we didn't play our game."

Francis Moyap says he's lost his number one goalkeeper for Friday's final, where the winner will qualify for next year's world cup in Germany in June.
