Pacific countries not changing travel plans for Delhi Games

10:38 am on 25 September 2010

Pacific countries competing at next month's Delhi Commonwealth Games say they still intend to keeping to their original travel schedules.

Several nations, including Scotland and Canada, have delayed their departures for the Games, which start in just over a week, due to concerns about security, health and the state of the athletes' village.

But Cook Islands' Chef De Mission, George George, says at this stage they still intend to leave Rarotonga tomorrow to link up with a chartered flight bound for India.

The President of Niue's Olympic Committee, Desmond Hipa, says it's plans haven't changed, although it will be looking to New Zealand for guidance and whatever it decides Niue will probably follow.

The Samoan Olympic Committee's Secretary General, Tuala Lepale Niko Palamo, says they never intended to arrive early so there's been no need for them to alter their travel plans.

Samoa will arrive in India on Tuesday.
