More heavy rain forecast for Samoa

1:10 pm on 16 September 2010

American Samoa's National Weather Service says more wet and windy weather will affect the territory in the next 24 hours.

The service says rainfall measured earlier this week was one of the highest for the year.

A meteorologist Carol Baqui says an upper level trough remains over the Samoa region bringing more rain and strong winds.

"Residents along ridges and higher elevation should be mindful of the current conditions. So take action at any time and secure all loose items."

A high surf warning and small craft advisories are also in effect.

The Department of Public Safety says there have been no reports of landslides or other weather-related incidents.
