The Australian Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, Duncan Kerr, has met most presidents of the Micronesian countries on his tour ahead of next month's Pacific Islands Forum summit.
The tour has so far taken him to Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands.
Mr Kerr says the visit has given him an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual concern, including the importance of sustainable fisheries management, the need to find effective solutions to meeting energy needs and the challenges of climate change.
His trip coincides with a regional tour of the New Zealand foreign minister, Murray McCully, whose itinerary, just like Mr Kerr's, includes Tuvalu and Kiribati.
