The Solomon Islands Ministry of Health says it's yet to receive results from ice-cream samples which were sent to Australia to be tested for the poisonous substance, melamine.
The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports that the samples were sent in October following the international health scare over dairy products originating from China which were found to contain melamine.
Samples of white rabbit candies sold in shops in Honiara were earlier tested to have very high levels of melamine, a substance which can cause kidney stones in humans.
The National Food Safety Coordinator in the ministry Ethel Mapolu says the ministry has now picked samples from the Mimi Ice Cream manufacturer to have tested because they have been using milk imported from China.
She says milk found to have been used by Mimi Ice Cream had Chinese labels that health authorities found hard to read.
Ms Mapolu however says dairy products found in most shops in Honiara are made by traditional manufacturers.
