Guam lawmakers are considering a 150 million US dollar cut to the territory's budget.
Speaker Judith Won Pat has told the Marianas Variety newspaper the legislators have forecast the territory's operating budget is 150 million over anticipated revenues for the coming fiscal year.
She says the budget will be cut 7-percent across the board, but the island's largest government agency, the public school system, faces bigger cuts.
Ms Won Pat says the Guam Public School System, which has 4,000 employees and has proposed a new budget of 263 million dollars is likely to have its budget request trimmed by 50 million.
