Melanesian Spearhead Group Foreign Ministers are looking to finalise the revised MSG trade agreement at a meeting in Port Vila today.

The Ministers meeting follows two weeks of discussions by officials, much of which has focused on strengthening trade links.

From Port Vila, Johnny Blades has more:

"A revised MSG trade agreement is expect to include trade in services like telecommunications and labour mobility rather than just goods. The MSG sees strengthening trade ties among themselves as a way to help reduce poverty, but despite vigorous discussion over recent days, official have yet to reach a consensus on the issue of cutting tariffs. Meanwhile foreign ministers are to review regional political and security developments with Fiji expected to feature on the agenda. Fiji's interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, is due to arrive in Port Vila for the leader's summit starting Thursday and the other members countries will look to make a unified effort in pinning him to his commitment to hold elections in Fiji by March next year."
