Fiji's military has warned a controversial ethnic Indian businessman about his involvement with former soldiers of the now disbanded Counter Revolutionary Warfare Unit who staged the 2000 coup and army mutinies.

The Fiji Sun reports that the military has told Ballu Khan that if anything goes wrong, they will come for him first.

The newspaper has named eight soldiers who have served their prison terms who are employed by Mr Khan as his personal security guards and driver.

The Land Force Commander, Colonel Pita Driti, has told The Sun that as soon as they found out about this, he had summoned Mr Khan for a meeting.

Col Driti says he warned Mr Kahn that if there is any instability instigated by these former soldiers, "the military will be out to get him first."

Mr Khan says the soldiers are not employed by his company, Tui Consulting, but are there for his "personal reasons."
