Members of the Islamic community in Solomon Islands welcome the move by Australia to get tough on radical muslims.

Reacting to concerns raised by Australia of the potential threat posed by militant Islamists to Australia and the region, the Secretary of the Solomon Islands Islamic League, Fasal Yusaf says such action will separate militant and strict followers of Islam.

He says in all other world religions, there are criminals as well as strong followers of their faith.

Mr Yusaf says this is the same with Islam.

Mr Yusaf urges Christian leaders to understand the followers of Islam.

He says the true principles of Islam denounce the use of violence against other humans.
