Palau House of Representatives supports President's two veto bills

Palau's House of Representatives has voted not to overide a presidential veto of two bills.

The House action which reversed an earlier vote in the Senate means the Congress has failed to reach the two thirds majority required to overide the President's veto.

President Tommy Remengesau had earlier struck down a banking bill that opponents say would create loopholes for money laundering and risk international sanctions.

His second veto on a bill to legalise casino gambling was also overridden by the senate but supported by the House..
