The brother of a Tongan MP arrested in the United States says the authorities have made a mistake over identity.
Etuate LavuLavu was stopped by police in Salt Lake City in Utah as he attempted to board a flight to Los Angeles.
The authorities said he was wanted in connection with investigations into the forgery of birth certificates and other documents that would help immigrants to establish US citizenship.
But his brother Sam Lavu Lavu told the Associated Press that he was convicted of forgery charges in 1998 and served just over four months in Salt Lake City jail.
