The work to rule protest by Fiji's hospital doctors will continue at least until next week.
The follows a cabinet decision to hear the doctor's claim for payment for work outside normal hours next Tuesday.
The public service commission has approved the doctors' submissions that on call allowances be upgraded from four dollars sixty cents US to five dollars US an hour.
But final approval for the proposal will have to come from the cabinet.
Meanwhile, the doctors have engaged Suva lawyer, Isireli Fa to represent them on issues affecting their welfare while they await the cabinet decision.
Mr Fa says the doctors' grounds for dissatisfaction are actionable and he is awaiting a response from the public service commission on their plight.
But the secretary for health, Luke Rokovada, is quoted as saying legal representation is uncalled for and they will have nothing to do with Mr Fa.
Hospital services and clinics which have been closed since Monday will not resume until the doctors' protest ends.
