The Fiji Labour Party says it will fight to the end to be part of a multi party government under the Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase.
The Labour leader, Mahendra Chaudhry told the party's annual convention at the weekend that he was not willing to be opposition leader because it would set a precendent for future governments.
He said his supporters had voted for his party not to be in opposition but with the hope of being in government and making a difference to their living standards.
Mr Chaudhry said Labour's expertise commitment and confidence to get the country back on track would help Mr Qarase's government.
He said as far as the policies of the two were concerned, something could be worked out after a discussion.
