In December 2015 nine selected young New Zealand composers had their works performed and recorded by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in a workshop setting. Hannah Darroch talks to each composer and plays the finished recordings of their works.

This year the composition award was jointly shared by Reuben Jelleyman and Jay Greenberg (pictured). Jay also picked up the Orchestra’s Choice Award for his piece ‘Waterwheel with Mantras’. The composer mentor for 2015 was Michael Norris and the conductor Richard Gill.
