Auckland-based tabla player Manjit Singh's latest project is Indi'gration - a cross-cultural endeavour involving Indian, Western jazz and Māori music with the end goal of a concert in South Auckland later this year.

But the collaboration extends beyond New Zealand, with Singh inviting Indian-born Carnatic singer Aakash Chacko Binu to participate.

The two spoke with RNZ Concert host Bryan Crump while Binu was in the country for a few days.

They explained how the project started, and how Indi'gration is just the first part of a wider cross-cultural adventure, Project Pangea - named after the original global super-continent.
