Bleed Out is a visceral piece right from the start.
The latest dance work directed by Wellington choreographer Miranda Manasiadis focuses on the hunter and the huntress and as the title suggests, it ends with blood on the floor.
Performed by Georgia Beechey and Luke Hanna to music by David Long, Bleed Out explores how sometimes we are moved to destroy the thing we desire most.

Manasiadis joined RNZ Concert's Bryan Crump to discuss the dance and how Long (composer and guitarist with bands including The Muttonbirds) ended up providing the music.
She says she wanted the music to be from New Zealand and she was already using a piece of his as "a landscape".
In dance terminology, 'landscape' is a piece of music simply designed to get dancers moving in the studio.
Manasiadis liked Long's music so much she asked him if she could create a dance work based on it.
Long not only said "yes", but collaborated with Manasiadis to tailor the music for the dance.
Manasiadis also told Crump how she uses music in the creative process, how dance often comes out of silence, and how the energy of her dancers drove the narrative of Bleed Out.
It's on at the Hannah Playhouse in Wellington for three nights from 19-21 March.
