NZSO Cook's Landfall series

To mark 250 years since Captain Cook set foot on land in Aotearoa the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra commissions works from five New Zealand composers.

These compositions are part of the Tuia - Encounters 250 project funded by the Ministry of Culture & Heritage.

The NZSO commissions and performs new works by five NZ composers - Salina Fisher, Gareth Farr, Gillian Whitehead, Michael Norris and Kenneth Young.

Tuia – Encounters 250 celebrates Aotearoa New Zealand’s Pacific voyaging heritage and acknowledges the first onshore encounters between Māori and Pākehā in 1769–70.
