In this performance presented by Chamber Music New Zealand, the world-renowned Takács Quartet performs at Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral. The ensemble—Edward Dusinberre, Harumi Rhodes, Richard O’Neill, and András Fejér—presents a programme that bridges the classical and contemporary with their excellent command of the string quartet repertoire.
The concert begins with Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in G minor ("The Rider"), famous for its galloping finale. This is followed by Flow, a cosmic-inspired work by American composer Nokuthula Ngwenyama. The programme concludes with Beethoven’s energetic String Quartet No. 9 (the third "Razumovsky"), followed by an encore from Ravel’s String Quartet.
