Explore the shifting moods of evening, from Viennese elegance to profound passion, in this live concert recording from the Auckland Philharmonia. "Nightscapes" features conductor Giordano Bellincampi leading the orchestra in a journey that begins with Strauss's glittering Emperor Waltzes and Mozart's enchanting Sinfonia Concertante, performed by principal soloists Bede Hanley (Oboe), Jonathan Cohen (Clarinet), Ingrid Hagan (Bassoon), and Gabrielle Pho (Horn).
The concert's second half delves into the rich, late-Romantic world of 'night music'. Concertmaster Andrew Beer is the soloist in Wagner's Träume (Dreams), an orchestral song tied to the music of Tristan und Isolde. The programme concludes with Arnold Schoenberg’s powerful masterpiece, Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), an emotional journey from darkness to acceptance, recorded live at the Auckland Town Hall.
