STRAUSS: September, from Four Last Songs

While written for soprano voice with orchestral accompaniment, this song is equally beautiful when performed with piano.

As with the other three songs in the Four Last Songs, Richard Strauss's final composition, the subject matter is a resigned acceptance of death.
