Music by one of the greatest of all Venetian composers.
Performed by NZ Barok with guest cellist James Bush at their concert, "The Splendour of Venice"
Antonio Vivaldi was the son of one of the musicians in the orchestra at St Mark’s Basilica, so we might like to think of him chasing around the church with his friends as boys while their fathers rehearsed.
He may have even taken his first lessons in composition from the maestro di cappella there, Giovanni Legrenzi.
Recorded by RNZ Concert in St Luke's Church, Remuera, Auckland
Producer: Tim Dodd; Engineer: Adrian Hollay
