TCHAIKOVSKY: The Nutcracker, Act II

In Act 2 of Tchaikovsky's 'fairy-tale ballet' the heroine Clara's toy nutcracker has become a handsome prince, who takes her to his Kingdom of Sweets. The inhabitants dance for the happy couple - Chocolate, Coffee, Tea, Russian candy-canes among others - all providing an excuse for music and a characteristic dance from their country of origin. After a final celebratory waltz, Clara and the Prince leave in a reindeer sleigh.

Recorded 15 October 2016 at the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington by RNZ Concert.
