Tonight we have a programme called Symphonic Brass, a concert of symphonic music performed by the Wellington Brass Band conducted by David Breamner. The Wellington Brass Band was founded in 1905, and was formally known as the Wellington Corporation Tramways Band. Today, under the leadership of Bremner, the band is actively involved in music education and teaching in the community, performing at many schools to promote and encourage kids to get involved in music.

The programme includes March from ‘Pines of Rome’ by Respighi, and the ending of Mahler’s Symphony No.2 in C minor, with soloists Mark Carter, Mitchell Spence, Bryon Newton and Luke Spence.

Recorded in the Genesis Energy Theatre at Expressions, Upper Hutt by RNZ Concert
