Navigation for Music Alive

Peter ScholesAuckland Chamber Orchestra has prepared a wide range of repertoire for tonight. Their flexibility and musicianship has enabled them to perform Peter Scholes’ own challenging work, a suite from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Scholes himself conducted his magical work which depicts kiwi bush and forests. This work was commissioned for Royal New Zealand Ballet almost 20 years ago.

Scholes’ hypnotic work was complimented by Schubert’s Trout Quintet. The members of Jade Quartet and bass player Bella Zilber and pianist David Guerin gathered to perform Schubert’s lyrical masterpiece.

“… hypnotically ambling blues ushered in some of the most enjoyable and wackiest music of the evening, including some merry mayhem being foisted on the familiar Mendelssohn Wedding March.” (NZ Herald)
