Chocolate caramel banana pizza

3:10 pm on 7 August 2015

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of thick warm custard
  • 1 cup of dark chocolate
  • 1 portion of pizza dough
  • 2 bananas
  • ¼ cup caster sugar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/8 cup water
  • ¼ cup cream
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Icing sugar to dust

Method

Mix the chocolate into the warm custard and stir well until all the chocolate has melted.

Place the choco/custard into a fridge to get cold.

Remove from the fridge once properly cold and beat to a smooth paste with a whisk or egg beater.

Roll out the pizza dough to a flat round disk about 5 mm thick.

Spoon the choco/custard onto the pizza base and level with a spatula to an even base

Slice the banana and roll in the caster sugar before arranging on the pizza

Bake in a very hot oven until the base is cooked (browning on the edges) and the banana has caramelised.

Meanwhile bring the 2 cups of sugar to a simmer with the water in a VERY clean stainless steel pot and allow it to caramelise. Just stir it very occassionaly. WARNING: this is very hot and dangerous.

Remove from the heat and careful stir in the butter and cream.

Pour this caramel sauce over your pizza and buckle up for a journey to heaven!
