Prince Philip has been discharged from hospital four days after undergoing a procedure to unblock a coronary artery.

The 90-year-old was flown to Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire on Friday after suffering chest pains.

He underwent treatment to fit a stent to open the blocked artery.

Prince Philip missed the royal Christmas celebrations and had to sit out the traditional Boxing Day shoot.

The prince is said to have been advised by doctors to rest, the BBC reports.

A BBC correspondent said the prince had participated in more than 300 engagements in the last 12 months. His next formal engagement is not until 17 January.
