UK Supreme Court to hear extradition appeal

9:47 am on 18 December 2011

Britain's Supreme Court is to consider an appeal by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange against his extradition to Sweden.

Seven judges will hear the case in February.

Assange, 40, an Australian, is wanted by Swedish police for questioning over allegations of sexual assault in August 2010.

He denies the accusations and claims they are politically motivated.

The High Court previously approved his extradition.
