Perth police say they are prepared to deal with demonstrations before the Queen opens the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting on Friday.
Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan says he is happy for people to protest peacefully in Forrest Place but officers will intervene if they are disorderly or try to camp overnight, which would breach city bylaws.
Mr O'Callaghan says he does not want to see a repeat of the clashes between police and protesters in the eastern states.
''If there's an issue we want to resolve it as quickly as possible,'' he said. ''We do not want the scenes that we saw in Melbourne or even Sydney.''
