Indians living deep inside the Amazon rainforest have found nine survivors from a crashed plane.
The military aircraft, with 11 people on board, made a forced landing on the remote Itui river in northwestern Brazil on Thursday morning.
Members of the Matis tribe found the craft the next morning and notified authorities.
The BBC reports the Cessna C-98 Caravan was carrying four crew and seven government medics involved in a vaccination campaign.
A statement from the air force said at least one person is believed to have died and another, who went to find help, is still missing.
The Cessna was en route to Tabatinga, in the state of Amazonas, when it went missing. The cause of the crash is not known.
