Ten more boats full of North African migrants have arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa. Most of them were fleeing the fighting in Libya.
Deutsche Welle Radio reports some 1600 North African migrants in 10 boats arrived on the island of Lampedusa this weekend.
The port authority there said they included about 100 women and 40 children.
The Italian coast guard also said it had spotted two additional boats at sea carrying more migrants from northern Africa.
Lampedusa lies between the Tunisian coast and Sicily. Since the beginning of this year some 11,000 North Africans have landed there, fleeing uprisings and conflicts in their home countries.
