Three killed in NATO air strike - Libya

6:12 am on 31 July 2011

Libya says three journalists have been killed in a NATO air strike on state television transmitters. Fifteen other people were injured.

NATO says it attacked the transmitters to silence what it called 'terror broadcasts' that incite violence.

However, the BBC reports that State TV was still on air afterwards.

The Libyan government says al-Qaeda is instigating the revolt. It calls the NATO air strikes an act of international terrorism.
