The Australian government is being attacked from all sides over a decision to include unaccompanied children in any deal to swap asylum seekers with Malaysia.
Malaysia is to accept 800 Australian asylum seekers in return for Australia taking 4000 refugees.
However, the ABC reports Malaysia has removed all references to human rights from draft documents on the deal.
Last month, Canberra agreed in principle to resettle 4000 Malaysian-based refugees in return for the country accepting 800 asylum seekers.
Immigration Minister Chris Bowen says there will no be special treatment for pregnant women and children who arrive without parents.
Fourteen West Australian Labor MPs have signed a letter opposing the plans.
The disclosure brought sharp criticism from the Opposition and the Greens.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott accused Julia Gillard of telling ''fibs''.
Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young accused the Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Mr Bowen of not telling the truth over the deal.
Mr Bowen says the documents revealed by Lateline are just a draft and the deal is a work in progress.
''The Malaysian government has been very clear (in its) commitment to deal with those people in a way which respects their dignity, which respects human rights standards, and that is why organisations like the UNHCR have been involved in these discussions,'' he said.
