Cricket fans in India are still celebrating after the national team won their second ICC World Cup, beating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final in Mumbai.

Team captain M.S. Dhoni hit a six to win the match with 10 balls remaining, after Sri Lanka set them 275 to win.

Sri Lanka had won the toss and elected to bat first.

The match was watched across the nation. Wankhede stadium was engulfed in a sea of dancing, cheering Indian fans after the victory.

Thousands of people poured on to the streets of Mumbai to celebrate the win.

The Indian tricolour was waved up and down Marine Drive outside the venue.

India, Australia and the West Indies are now the only sides to win the World Cup more than once.

India previously won in 1983.
