Wider ambulances needed in Britain

Ambulance fleets in Britain are being upgraded to cope with obese patients.

The BBC reports many ambulance services are buying new vehicles that can accommodate wider stretchers.

Hoists are being fitted to help overweight patients stand up and reinforced wheelchairs are being provided.

A European Commission study suggests nearly a quarter of British adults are obese.
