Dengue cases continue to climb in New Caledonia

The number of people with dengue in New Caledonia continues to climb, with 3700 now being infected.

Dengue is transmitted by mosquitoes in the day time. One person has died from the disease in the territory this year.

Radio New Zealand International reports an outbreak was officially been declared in French Polynesia last week.

There are other outbreaks in Fiji, American Samoa, Samoa, Vanuatu and some cases in Wallis and Futuna.
