Iraqi asylum-seekers deported from Britain

3:13 pm on 26 October 2010

Britain is deporting about 40 Iraqis whose asylum requests have been rejected.

Most are reported to be Kurds but they are being sent to Baghdad, because the autonomous region of Kurdistan refuses to receive deportation flights, the BBC reports.

The United Nations refugee agency has expressed its concern about such deportations, because it believes the safety of those sent back can't be assured in Iraq.
