Following his meeting at the White House for high-stakes talks on a possible peace deal with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was complimented on his smart black jacket.
It comes after Zelensky was criticised by White House media for failing to wear a suit during a meet with US President Donald Trump earlier this year that descended into a shouting match.
"First of all President Zelensky, you look fabulous in that suit," said one reporter, prompting Trump to quip: "I said the same thing".
Zelenksy, recognising the reporter as one who had criticised his choice of dress in February, responded: "and you're in the same suit".
"You see, I changed, you are not."
Zelensky's meeting with Trump follows at earlier meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin over the weekend.
European leaders also arrived in Washington to show solidarity with Ukraine and advocate for strong security guarantees in any post-war settlement.
President Zelensky says he and Trump discussed "very sensitive points" including security guarantees.
"We are happy that all the leaders are here," he said. "Security in Ukraine depends on United States and on you, and on those leaders who are with us in our hearts.
"A lot of countries on the side of Ukraine, our people. All of us want to finish this war, stop Russia and stop this war.
"We spoke about it and we will speak more about security guarantees," he said to Trump. "This is very important that United States gives such strong signal and is ready for security guarantees."
The US president said the leaders would discuss "who will do what" as part of security guarantees for Ukraine and signalled a resolution would be reached today. Trump also said "possible exchanges of territory" to end the war is up for discussion. Looking ahead, Trump said he would call Putin later today to set up a trilateral meeting between himself, the Russian leader and Zelensky.
