More boats of asylum seekers intercepted

Two more boats carrying asylum seekers were stopped in Australia's northern waters on Friday.

One boat was found west of the Lacepede Islands, off the north-west coast of Western Australia, while the other was intercepted near Christmas Island.

The federal government says a total of 74 people are on board the two boats.

The ABC reports they will be taken to Christmas Island for health, identity and security checks.

Two boats were intercepted in waters north-west of Australia on Saturday, 5 June. Two others were stopped by the day before.
